Manchester United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward has all-but ruled out any January signings, saying that the club are not after ‘short-term fixes’.
United have won just four of their first 11 Premier League games since Louis van Gaal arrived at the club this summer and calls for more signings have been made by their fans, following the arrival of Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind, Angel di Maria and Radamel Falcao in August.
However, when questioned on the chances of any arrivals in the coming January transfer window, Woodward seemed less enthusiastic and said that the club do have targets for next summer.
“We’re not looking to enter the market for short-term fixes,” Woodward told reporters in a press conference.
“However, we have targets that we are looking at for next summer and should any of those become available in January, which is rare, we will consider acting.
“But it terms of expectations we all need to recognise that’s a low probability.”
