Portuguese winger keen on Man United return

Nani is keen to return to Manchester United after re-finding his form on loan with Sporting Lisbon this season.

The Portuguese winger was deemed surplus to requirements this summer by new United boss Louis van Gaal and was loaned out as part of the deal to bring Marcos Rojo to Old Trafford.

United have been linked with a possible return for Nani, having enquired about bringing him back in the January transfer window and cutting short his loan spell.

However, Nani had ruled out the move, but it now seems he is more open to a return to England.

Asked on the chances of returning to United, the winger said: “Why not? I went out [to Sporting] to play more and get to my best. If there is an opportunity, we will see.”

Portugal beat Argentina 1-0 on Tuesday night which saw the winger involved and he has discussed the importance of the win for his country.

“I think it was a very tough game for us but we knew, when we play against a team like that, it is very difficult,” he said.

“I think all the players did well. We defended the result but tried to win the game as well and, in the end, we had a bit of pressure and we won the game. It’s great for us.”
