Van Gaal spots Blind on his injury list

Manchester United midfielder Daley Blind could be ruled out until January after tearing a knee ligament whilst on International duty.

Blind, a £14m summer recruit, lasted just 19 minutes in Holland’s 6-0 win over Latvia in a European Championship qualifier in Amsterdam.

Blind has enjoyed a fine start to his career at Old Trafford and has settled quickly into his central midfield role.

Reports in Holland suggest that the former Ajax man has a minor tear in his knee and will be out for at least 4-6 weeks.

Dutch boss Guus Hiddink confirmed the extent of the injury post-match, which will come as a huge blow to Louis van Gaal.

The United boss must be cursing his luck, especially after ‘keeper David de Gea returned from Spain duty with a dislocated finger last week.

With Arsenal coming up on Saturday, van Gaal’s list of injuries doesn’t make for good reading.

Phil Jones, Rafael, Marcos Rojo, Jonny Evans, Michael Carrick and now Blind all look set to miss the trip to the Emirates.

This situation isn’t ideal for United as they go into arguably their biggest game of the season so far.

A victory over Arsene Wenger’s side and United will leap-frog their rivals, and perhaps more importantly, could go back into the Premier League top four.
