Pires believes in Wenger despite poor Arsenal form

Former winger Robert Pires believes that Arsenal fans should keep faith in Arsene Wenger despite Arsenal’s poor start to the season.

The Premier League side have struggled to find consistency this season and sit sixth in the table, winning just four of their opening 11 games.

Results have been indifferent thus far, with the 3-3 draw against Anderlecht in the Champions League a particular concern amongst fans and media men after being 3-0 up for most of the game.

However, Pires believes that Wenger will turn the club around and that the fans should keep their faith in the Frenchman.

“Wenger built this club over the past 18 seasons and the past should not be forgotten,” he told Goal.

“I understand, at present, it’s difficult for the team, I understand sometimes, but don’t forget he has spent a lot of money on [Mesut] Ozil, [Alexis] Sanchez, [Danny] Welbeck and [Calum] Chambers. Sometimes you can buy very good players but the pitch is the history.

“I know it’s difficult for Wenger at the moment but I have always believed in him, this team and the players.”
