Ramos: Controversy ended when Mourinho left for Chelsea

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos says that controversy around the club ended when Jose Mourinho was replaced by Carlo Ancelotti.

Mourinho spent three seasons with the Spanish giants and was heavily involved in several controversies, either with rivals Barcelona or his own players.

The Portuguese coach departed in 2013 and returned to Chelsea, being replaced by Italian Carlo Ancelotti and Spanish defender Sergio Ramos has said that their is less controversy at the club since.

“Aside from being a great person, Ancelotti has brought a calm and stability that has done away with any controversy outside of the dressing room,” he told Marca.

“He’s been able to deal with any type of player, any type of problem, as you can see. He makes very calm statements and rarely gives you a headline.

“Aside from my professional relationship with him, I consider him a friend. We chat for hours and I learn a lot from him. You learn more from coaches who have played the game than from those who haven’t.”

The former Sevilla man is keen for Ancelotti to remain at the club for a long time and discussed how he feels the coach will want to stay for many reasons.

“I can’t comment on Ancelotti’s future. He has to decide his own future,” he remarked. “However, it’d be hard for him to be any happier than he is here.

“Aside from being at the best club in the world, the food isn’t bad and life’s good. We have to sell our country as best we can.”
