Arsenal midfielder won’t return for seven weeks

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has admitted that he will not available for another seven weeks with the knee ligament injury that he suffered last month.

The Germany international was diagnosed with a ligament tear during the last international break following Arsenal’s 2-0 defeat to Chelsea on October 5th, and whilst it was hoped he would return sooner than January, the 25-year-old has confirmed that he will be out for a longer period.

“I have already been out for five weeks and will be out for another seven weeks,” Özil said at a Laureus event in Germany. “That is a really long time but that is the way it is in football sometimes. My head is held high and we look forward.”

The news comes as another blow to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, who is already without Olivier Giroud, Mathieu Debuchy and Abou Diaby.

Arsenal have struggled to find their best form this season and sit in seventh place, 12 points behind league leaders Chelsea.
