Belgium coach Marc Wilmots has admitted he is growing concerned over the injury problems to Barcelona defender Thomas Vermaelen.
The 28-year-old arrived at Barca this summer from Arsenal but has yet to make an appearance for his new club and is still nursing a number of injury problems which have troubled him for the past 12 months.
Rumours of more surgery needed are coming from Catalan press, although Wilmots said he knew nothing about the news; he did say he was concerned about the former Arsenal man.
“The rumours in Spain he requires an operation? I don’t know anything about that. I’m going to Barcelona next week and I’ll find out then how he really feels,” he told reporters.
Further more a source close to the club told us exclusively that the defender may end up never playing for the club.
“Thomas is far from making his official debut, infact it looks increasingly likely that his chance may never come if his injuries continue.”
