Klinsmann praises Spurs signing of US youngster

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Jurgen Klinsmann has praised his former club’s signing of United States youngster DeAndre Yedlin.

Following a superb World Cup campaign for his country, Spurs decided to sign the right-back from Seattle Sounders for £2.5m in August and immediately loan him back to the MLS club until next summer.

However, Yedlin has since claimed that he could arrive in North London sooner but is just waiting for his EU passport, which he qualifies for through his grandmother.

And, former Spurs striker Klinsmann believes the signing is a brilliant one for his former club.

“I think Spurs will get a huge talent,” Klinsmann told reporters.

“We are super excited that he is coming over here. As you saw really quickly in the World Cup, he is highly talented, has great pace, good character, is a good kid and wants to learn.

“So he comes here and he will be a kind of sponge to the coaching staff, to his team-mates and wants, step by step, to break in.”
