Walcott speaks of turning down ‘daunting’ Chelsea move

Arsenal attacker Theo Walcott has confirmed that he turned down a move to Chelsea as he found it ‘daunting’.

Walcott’s recent return to full fitness following a ligament injury has been met with delight by the Arsenal fans, who feel he could now give them that extra edge in attack and relieve Alexis Sanchez of some of the pressure.

However, Walcott may have not been an Arsenal player had he not turned down a move to Chelsea when he was a kid.

Quoted in the Daily Mail, the former Southampton man turned down the chance to join Chelsea and remain with the Saints.

‘It was the family nature of Southampton that made me turn down Chelsea as a kid,’ Walcott said. ‘Stamford Bridge was daunting.’
