Koeman delighted with patient Saints

Ronald Koeman has heaped heavy praise on his Southampton side after they were patient in beating Leicester City on Saturday.

Despite dominating the game from start to finish, the Saints were forced to wait until the 75th minute until they broke the strong defensive line of Leicester City, with Shane Long scoring his first Premier League goal of the season.

Long then added a second to wrap up the win moments later as Koeman’s side now sit four points off league leaders Chelsea and on a winning streak of five games.

“We had enough patience today,” Koeman told reporters. “It was difficult, we missed some quality in the final pass in the first half.

“We were the dominant team in the game but we didn’t create a lot of opportunities and we spoke about that [at half-time].

“It’s another win and another clean sheet and sometimes it’s difficult because maybe people expect an easy win with the position in the table.

“If we keep the good organisation we will score, because we have the players who make the difference.”
