Liverpool set to complete £5m signing of Mexican keeper

Liverpool are set to sign Mexican goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa from Malaga after agreeing to meet his £5million asking price, according to Metro.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to find a suitable replacement for Simon Mignolet, who he feels has struggled this season with form and it now seems that Ochoa is on the verge of a move to Anfield.

Rodgers had shown interest in former Barcelona keeper Victor Valdes in recent months but withdrew his interest due to concerns over the Spanish international’s fitness.

Valdes has since gone to train with Premier League rivals Manchester United, leaving Malaga keeper Ochoa the favourite to arrive on Merseyside.

The 29-year-old is open to a January move after failing to settle in Malaga, having not made an appearance as yet.
