Liverpool’s Kolo Toure wants revenge against Chelsea

Kolo Toure says Liverpool will be after revenge when they face Premier League leaders Chelsea at Anfield on Saturday.

Brendan Rodgers’ were just one result away from beating Manchester City to the Premier League title last season but suffered a title defining loss to Chelsea at Anfield in the run in, which allowed Manuel Pellegrini’s side to win the league.

Heading into the repeat fixture this season, Reds defender Kolo Toure is relishing the chance to exact revenge on Jose Mourinho’s side.

“They cost us the league, and now we have the chance to beat them – I can’t wait for that, honestly,” said the Ivorian.

“Is it a chance for payback? Definitely. It’s a very important game when you think what they did to us last season.”

Toure was once a member of that Arsenal side which were famously dubbed the Invincibles in 2004, having gone the whole season without losing and whilst comparisons between that side and Chelsea continue, Toure is extra motivated to stop that from happening.

“It’s a great chance to end any argument about them [Chelsea] being invincibles. But the most important thing is we want to win the game,” he added.

“With the squad they have of course they can go through the season unbeaten, but it’s not only the quality. It is about mentality.

“Every game is challenging and sometimes things don’t go well for you but you need to be able to come back and carry on fighting.”
