Heskey: Sterling would not get in Real Madrid’s team

Former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey has opened up in his column for Goal.com regarding Liverpool’s recent form and also looked at interest from Real Madrid in Raheem Sterling.

Liverpool’s recent form has been a shadow of their performances last season when they pushed Manchester City for the Premier League title and a wave of concern and criticism has followed Brendan Rodgers’ men in the last few days.

Luis Suarez’s sale to Barcelona did not help, whilst Daniel Sturridge has also been injured, however, the form of Raheem Sterling has been one pleasing note.

“The fans are not confident in their team right now and I don’t think Brendan Rodgers will be confident about playing Real Madrid, either.

“My friends are probably right – I think losing 2-0, even 3-0, would be a good result. If they got a draw it would be their best result of the season.

“I can’t think of a single Liverpool player who would get into the Real starting line-up. I love the way Raheem Sterling is playing, but are you going to pick him ahead of Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo?”
