Juventus run rule over La Liga duo

Serie A champions Juventus have reportedly set their sights on signing either Real Madrid left-back Marcelo or Barcelona counterpart Adriano.

Italian source Tutto Mercato Web claims the Turin giants will raid one of the La Liga heavyweights during the summer transfer window in an attempt to bolster the left side of their backline.

Their interest in Real star Marcelo has not cooled despite his shaky performance for Brazil in the opening game of the World Cup last week, which saw him score an own goal against Croatia.

The host nation eventually ran out 3-1 winners but the result did not save the 26-year-old from criticism.
Juve would have to come up with a big-money bid to stand any chance of luring him away from the Bernabeu, where he still has four years remaining on his contract.

Adriano, three years older than Marcelo, would represent a cheaper option, although he still has three years left on his deal at the Nou Camp.

The report says Juve head coach Antonio Conte is impressed by Adriano’s tactical flexibility, which allows him to operate in the centre of the pitch if needed.

Conte wants to strengthen his squad in order to launch an assault on next season’s Champions League.
