Barcelona centre-back Marc Bartra says he is surprised that Luis Suarez is not on the Ballon d’Or shortlist after his impressive statistics for Liverpool last season.
The Uruguayan international scored 31 goals in 33 games for the Premier League side and secured the European Golden Boot as a reward for his performances.
However, his omission from the list of potential candidates for the Ballon d’Or is somewhat of a surprise to Barca team-mate Bartra, who said the striker deserves to be amongst the 23-man list.
“I’m surprised,” Bartra told beIN Sports. “It’s true. I think he had a spectacular year. He’s a great player, he is one of the best strikers in the world and I think he deserves to be there on the shortlist.”
