Arsenal and Real Madrid are lining up a move next season for Juventus defender Stephan Lichtsteiner.

The Swiss international will see his current deal with Serie A champions Juventus expire next summer, having failed to sign a new deal due to the growing interest of a number of top European clubs.

Arsenal and Real Madrid have been extremely keen as both want to bolster their defensive options and would be keen to pursue the free transfer option on the 30-year-old.

Lichtsteiner joined the Italian champions for a reported €10 million fee in the summer of 2011 from Lazio and he has impressed for the Turin based side, having helped them to three consecutive Serie A titles.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is also keen on West Ham United defender Winston Reid, who is also out of contract next summer.
