Liverpool defender admits team sympathy for Mario Balotelli

Martin Skrtel has admitted that he and his team-mates have sympathy for Mario Balotelli after the Italian has struggled to find his feet at Liverpool so far this season.

Balotelli’s recent performances for the Anfield side have been criticised heavily by the English press, having scored one goal of Liverpool since his £16.5m move from AC Milan in the summer.

However, Skrtel has spoken of his sympathy for the former Manchester City striker.

“He is working hard and showed some good moments. I feel sorry for him,” the defender told Sky Sports News.

“He is working hard in training, he is working hard in the game. He just hasn’t got the goals. We just believe in him. We will be supporting him and just hope he will start scoring goals.”
