Nigeria keeper Enyeama: Cancel Afcon or face Ebola outbreak

Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has told the Confederation of African Football to consider cancelling January’s Africa Cup of Nations to save risk of Ebola being spread through the tournament.

The virus has killed countless amounts of people in Africa and there are fears that a tournament involving players, fans and officials gathering from across the continent in January would further see the disease spread.

Enyeama, who plays for French side Lille, has called on CAF to cancel the tournament until further restrictions and solutions are found to stop the outbreak.

“I really wish it doesn’t happen with all the people that will be moving around,” Nigeria’s keeper told reporters.

“But I’m not Caf. I’m not the one who calls the shots.

“It’s risky for everyone because you go to Africa and then everyone is hugging you and shaking you, and what can you do? You’re at risk. But if it happens I will play, if we qualify.”
