Lovren: Liverpool must do better against Real Madrid

Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren has promised the club’s fans that he and his team-mate will do better against Real Madrid.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have struggled to maintain the form that saw them push Manchester City for the Premier League title and face off against reigning European champions Real Madrid this Wednesday in the Champions League.

The Spanish side have been free scoring of late and sit second in La Liga, leading to many predictions that they will ease past the Merseyside club.

However, Lovren has said that he and his fellow team-mates know that they ‘must’ do better.

“We will not play like that against Real Madrid, you can be sure of that,” he told reporters. “We will be better.

“We cannot play like this because we know what we can expect from Real Madrid. Their players, we know who they are and we will prepare a little bit different.

“It’s not daunting. It’s a pleasure to play against these players. I am not afraid. No-one in our team is afraid. We respect their players but we will show something completely different on Wednesday.”
