Barcelona attacker Luis Suarez believes that his team-mate Lionel Messi is a better player than Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo.
This season’s first El Clasico is just five days away and it will see the ageing battle between Messi and Ronaldo ignited once more after years of debate on who is the best player in the world.
Ronaldo stormed to the Ballon d’Or in January after a superb goalscoring record last year, but Messi’s new team-mate, Luis Suarez, firmly believes that the Argentine is still the best.
“In my opinion Leo is better [than Ronaldo],” Suarez told the Daily Mirror.
“I train and play with Leo every day and he surprises me every day. He is unique. Everybody knows what he has brought to Barcelona, what kind of world-class player he is.
“For me he is the best player in the world for what he has already done and he’s still so young.”
