Chelsea prepare Khedira contract for January

Chelsea have planned, prepared and sent a contract offer to Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira, ahead of a possible January transfer move.

The German midfielder will be allowed to leave the Santiago Bernabeu in January after failing to force his way back in the starting eleven under Carlo Ancelotti following his return from injury.

A number of top European clubs have been interested with initial interest coming from Bayern Munich and Arsenal.

However, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has told the club’s hierarchy that signing the former Stuttgart man is a must and will give them an added dimension ahead of a title challenge.

The German international will see his contract expire next summer and it is believed that should Chelsea fail with a ‘small’ bid in January, then the same contract will remain in place for when he becomes a free agent.
