Liverpool keeper ‘disappointed’ at current situation

Liverpool keeper Brad Jones has admitted that he is “disappointed” at not being given a bigger chance at the club.

The 32-year-old keeper has been Liverpool’s second choice keeper since joining the club in 2010, playing behind the likes of Pepe Reina and now – Simon Mignolet.

Having failed to start a Premier League game since March 2013, Jones if fully expected to remain in the background, especially if former Barcelona keeper Victor Valdes is signed in the coming weeks on a free transfer.

And, the former Middlesbrough player has spoken of his unhappiness.

“Before every game, I will be honest, I’m disappointed if I’m not playing,” he told ESPN. “It might sound stupid but that’s how I work during the week. One thing people find when they come to the club is how hard training is – how intense it is.

“Players don’t do down days and that comes from Stevie. I don’t think I have ever seen him walk around in training. He is one of the hardest workers – so when your captain is like that, everyone follows. And it is something that has probably improved a lot of people’s games.”
