Giggs: Van Gaal is continuing Man United’s tradition

Ryan Giggs believes Louis van Gaal has continued the club’s tradition by allowing several youngsters to be given a chance this season.

New United boss Van Gaal has mixed a wealth of world class talent with several unheard young players, giving the likes of Tyler Blackett a regular starting place and fellow defender Paddy McNair.

Giggs, who retired from the playing game this summer, is now acting as Van Gaal’s number two and is pleased with the Dutch coach’s philosophy and in maintaining United’s tradition by allowing the likes of Blackett to get a chance.

“That’s the philosophy of Manchester United, you always bring young exciting footballers through and the fans demand it and the club demands it,” Giggs told reporters.

“Yeah, you spend money on world-class stars, but you also have young players coming through. Right from the Busby Babes right from before that, right up until now, you give youth a chance.

“That’s what Manchester United have always done and will continue to do.”
