Arsenal set to miss out on contract renewing Villa midfielder

Aston Villa have made a new contract offer to Fabian Delph after learning of interest from Arsenal.

Delph, 24, is in the final year of his current deal with the Midlands side after joining them from Leeds United in 2009 and interest in the midfielder has somewhat gathered pace in recent weeks after his impressive performances for both club and country.

Manchester City, Liverpool and most notably Arsenal have all been credited with interest, with the latter having made enquiries in recent weeks to Villa.

But, Villa have now countered that interest and hope to keep the England international by offering him a new four-year deal which will significantly see him earn more.

Should Delph refuse the new deal, Villa will be forced to sell the midfielder in January rather than allow him to leave on a free transfer.
