Manchester United are reportedly still interested in signing AC Milan midfielder Nigel de Jong after falling short in their attempts to sign Kevin Strootman.
United have held long term interest in Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman but have seen that interest soften in the last week due to Roma’s public statements regarding the future of the Dutch international.
That has led the Old Trafford club to switch their attentions to another Dutchman in Nigel de Jong, who is currently playing well for Italian club AC Milan.
The 29-year-old remained at Milan over the summer but could have taken up the chance to move after a number of English, French and Spanish clubs showed interest.
Now, Gazzetta dello Sport claim that United will return with a bid in January, something they believe will work as the midfielder edges towards an expiring contract next summer.
