Real Madrid give up on De Gea, approach Chelsea keeper

Real Madrid have moved their attention to Chelsea keeper Petr Cech, after seeing the potential signing of David de Gea take another step backwards.

Madrid’s interest in Manchester United keeper David de Gea had taken huge steps in recent weeks after the indifferent form of Iker Casillas continues to cause them problems, both on and off the field.

Casillas has been struggling to find the form that once made him the World’s best keeper, making several mistakes this season for club and country.

However, whilst Madrid’s preference of signing De Gea remains high priority – it is understood that United have told the Spanish side that they will be offering a new contract to the Spaniard in the coming weeks.

That has pushed Madrid officials to make an initial move for Chelsea keeper Petr Cech, whom has lost his starting place at Stamford Bridge to Thibaut Courtois.
