Valdes agent denies ‘four-day’ fitness trial at Liverpool

Victor Valdes’s agent has rejected reports that the former Barcelona man has turned down the chance to join Liverpool.

It was heavily reported last week that the Catalan keeper would be having a medical this week at Anfield ahead of a free transfer to the Premier League club, however, conflicting reports claimed over the weekend that Valdes had rejected the chance to prove his fitness with a four-day trial.

Valdes has been out of action since March with an anterior cruciate ligament injury, but reports suggest that Liverpool are extremely keen to make him their new number one keeper after the poor form of Simon Mignolet this season.

“Liverpool have not offered us the chance to train with them for four days,” Gines Carvajal told SPORT.

“And we have not rejected the offer, because it is false. That proposal was never made to us by Brendan Rodgers nor by Liverpool at any moment.”

Arsenal, Manchester City and AS Monaco have all been linked with the former Spanish international.
