Neymar insists ‘no problem’ with tough tackling Mascherano

Neymar insists he and Javier Mascherano remain close friends, despite a fierce battle between the two in Brazil’s 2-0 win over Argentina on Saturday.

Diego Tardelli stole the show with his brace in Saturday’s Gillette Superclasico de las Americas at the Bird’s Nest Stadium, giving new boss Dunga his third straight win.

The contest saw many of football’s greatest players on show with Barcelona’s Neymar featuring for Brazil and Javier Mascherano in action for Argentina.

And, the two, who play together at the Camp Nou, were involved in a number of on-field robust tackles.

However, Neymar has insisted that he has no problem with his club team-mate.

“There was lots of kicking, but games between Argentina and Brazil are always like that, with plenty of physical contact. It’s normal. It’s a huge duel and a great rivalry even when played on the other side of the world.

“Fouls are normal when you’re defending your country,” Neymar said. “There’s no problem. [Mascherano and I] swapped shirts at the end of the match.”
