Liverpool have jumped ahead of Manchester City in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Marco Reus.
The German international has been strongly linked with a move away from Borussia Dortmund in recent seasons and looked poised to make a summer switch to either Manchester United or Barcelona.
However, injury which kept him out of his country’s World Cup campaign in Brazil scuppered any chance of a move and he continued with the Bundesliga club, recovering from injury and starting the season well.
That has not stopped his future being discussed though, with some reports claiming that Reus has his heart firmly set on a future move to the Camp Nou where he would link up with close friend and former team-mate Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
However, Premier League champions Manchester City appeared to have jumped the gun and made initial contact with Dortmund last week when officials landed in Germany for initial talks.
But, it is now understood that Liverpool are ready to offer him a five-year mega money deal which will see him become one of the highest paid footballers in English football history.
