Arsene Wenger says Arsenal will set Mesut Ozil a strict recovery timetable after he suffered a knee ligament injury.
The German midfielder failed to train with the German national side on Wednesday morning and was forced to return to London after scans revealed a ligament injury in his left knee.
Ozil will now be ruled out until 2015, but Wenger has insisted that he will not be rushed back and instead follow a recovery timetable.
“When he arrived with the German national team, they didn’t think it was a lot at the start,” the manager said. “He was supposed to practice on Wednesday but, in the end, he said that wasn’t possible for him.
“Then he had a scan and it was bad news. We have our own specialist giving us his opinion after reading the scan and examining Mesut. We will follow our own recommendations.”
