Arsenal target Carvalho desperate for Premier League move

Sporting midfielder William Carvalho has admitted that he still wants to move to the Premier League, sparking more interest from Arsenal.

The Portuguese defensive midfielder was close to joining Arsenal this summer after Arsene Wenger submitted two bids to Sporting Lisbon, but both were rejected by the Primiera Liga club.

The likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool have also shown interest and the midfielder’s latest comments are sure to spark further interest from the aforementioned.

“I would not say I was disappointed [to stay], but despite being very happy at Sporting, we all have ambitions and I hope one day to be playing in the best leagues in the world, the English or Spanish,” Carvalho said in an interview with the Portuguese Football Association.

“It did not happen this year, but if I continue to do my job as I have been doing for sure that sooner or later it will happen.

“I understand the proposals, but I think that there was no value for the clause and therefore they have been refused.”
