A superb performance against Uruguay for Costa Rica on Saturday evening saw Arsenal forward Joel Campbell trend on Twitter worldwide.
The lively forward scored one and was a constant threat for Uruguay as he helped his country beat the South Americans and cause an upset, prompting Arsenal fans to call on Arsene Wenger to hand the youngster his chance at the club next season.
The 21-year-old joined Arsenal from Saprissa in 2011 but was sent on loan to French side Lorient, before spells with Real Betis and Greek side Olympiacos.
Campbell impressed on loan with Olympiacos last season and was in particular good form against Manchester United in the Champions League, prompting calls from Gunners fans then to give him a chance.
And, the hashtag #Bringhimback served as another not to Arsenal boss Wenger about the fans’ feelings on the youngster.
Campbell was handed the Football Express News Man of the Match award following his performance and became the youngest player in this year’s tournament to score.
