England breeze past San Marino

England maintained their unbeaten start to the Euro 2016 qualifiers by beating San Marino 5-0 at Wembley on Thursday evening.

The hosts were largely unimpressive during the opening stages as the visitors played with all 11 players behind the ball, restricting the likes of Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck to long range efforts.

San Marino keeper Aldo Simoncini was also proving hard to beat as Wayne Rooney found him a tricky opponent.

However, the opening goal of the game would come when Simoncini made a mistake following a corner and allowed central defender Phil Jagielka to head into the empty net.

Wayne Rooney then beat the keeper, albeit from the penalty spot after he was caught by Andy Selva’s high boot.

The score would then be 3-0 just moments after the break when Danny Welbeck pounced in the area to tap home.

The Arsenal striker would then be replaced by Andros Townsend, who would get himself on the scoresheet moments later to make it 4-0.

And, the win was wrapped up with a Alex Della Valle own goal late on.
