Belgian striker in contact with Liverpool boss Rodgers

Lille striker Divock Origi has revealed that he remains in constant contact with Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers over his development and performances.

The 19-year-old striker burst on to the scene for his country at the World Cup in Brazil this summer and was immediately signed by Liverpool in a deal worth £10m, which then saw him sent back to French side Lille on loan.

Origi, has scored four times for the Ligue 1 side this season and is set to start Belgium’s Euro 2016 qualifier against Andorra on Friday night.

And, he has claimed that he and Reds boss Rodgers discuss several things each week about his performances and more.

“Brendan Rodgers keeps in touch when he can because he’s a busy man,” Origi told Sky Sports News. “Sometimes he sends me some messages and sometimes people from Liverpool come and visit me in Lille. It’s good to know they are following my progress.

“Things are going well but there’s still some room for improvement. I’m still working hard trying to prepare myself for a higher level. I’m feeling good and ready to continue this form.”
