Sir Alex Ferguson has sent his backing to Louis van Gaal and says he is ‘doing the right thing’ at Manchester United.
Dutch boss Van Gaal has signed six new players at Old Trafford since he took over this summer and is starting to see those players improve his side’s performances on the field.
United have struggled since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club two years ago, first through David Moyes and at the start of this season under Van Gaal.
But, the former Scottish boss believes Van Gaal is preparing the side for big things and gave his backing to the former Barcelona boss.
“Louis van Gaal has made a lot of changes and, thinking about that, actually maybe he’s doing the right thing, to clear the decks and build his own team,” Ferguson told MUTV.
“Because he’s got the experience and coaching ability to do that. The way he’s approached it I think has been brilliant.”
