Porto defender teased Man United over future move

Porto centre-back Bruno Martins Indi has teased a future move to Manchester United by saying he and Louis van Gaal remain connected.

Van Gaal, now boss of Man United, spent time with Martins Indi this summer during the World Cup in Brazil and was linked with bringing the central defender to Old Trafford when he left the national side and took over at United.

However, the 22-year-old failed to develop a move and instead joined Portuguese side Porto, rejecting some of Europe’s biggest clubs in the process.

But, he remains confident that he and Van Gaal will work together again., telling Helden Online: “Spiritually I still have contact with Van Gaal. I think about him and I think he also thinks about me.”

The Dutch international then added that his decision to join Porto was the correct one.

“I am glad I didn’t leave Feyenoord at an earlier stage. I noticed that I needed this step now.

“When you leave to a foreign country, you get to know yourself very well. In Portugal I only have my wife and child. We’re completely on our own.

“You can’t visit your family just like that. I think I can handle that better right now than if I had left Holland earlier.

“The Dutch are very calm, they leave you alone. In Porto it is different, I hear a lot: “Hey Bruno, hey Bruno.” They all want an autograph and a picture with me. It’s beautiful to be valued but sometimes it is difficult, if for example you want to eat quietly.”
