Arsenal midfielder set for scan as injuries continue to mount

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has travelled to Munich to undergo a scan on his knee, causing further injury concern for Arsene Wenger.

Ozil is currently on international duty with the German national side as they brace themselves to face Poland on Saturday and Republic of Ireland next Tuesday.

The World Cup winner played 90 minutes for Arsenal as they lost 2-0 to Chelsea on Sunday at Stamford Bridge, but he now seems likely to miss the upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers through injury.

Ozil is now on his way to Munich for an MRI scan with doctor Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt after missing training on Wednesday morning.

DFB spokesman Jens Grittner wrote on Twitter: “Second training without [Andre] Schurrle (individually at the hotel) and Ozil. He had travelled with knee problems, is to have an MRI scan in Munich.”

The news will come as a concern to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger who has had numerous injury problems to deal with this season.
