Liverpool midfielder ‘hungry’ to succeed for England

Adam Lallana is eager to impress England boss Roy Hodgson if he selected to start against San Marino on Thursday.

The Liverpool midfielder has returned to full fitness and produced some solid displays under Brendan Rodgers, having scored against West Bromwich Albion at the weekend.

Lallana, selected for the two Euro 2016 qualifiers against San Marino and Estonia, is ready to help England and perform for Hodgson.

“Being a fresh campaign, I’m always looking to impress,” he explained. “As there is a lot of competition out there, I’m hungry to impress.”

The 26-year-old also discussed the call-up for his friend and former team-mate Nathaniel Clyne.

“Nathaniel Clyne has come on a lot over the last few years, and throughly deserved his England call-up. He’s a top-drawer player.”
