Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has admitted his pleasure at being called La Liga’s best striker by team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Portuguese forward heaped heavy praise on the Frenchman following the 5-0 rout of Athletic Bilbao at the weekend, calling him the best out and out striker in football to date.
“It’s a pleasure to hear it from him, because right now he’s the best player in the world and he knows a little about this. I really appreciate it,” the France international told Marca.
The former Lyon striker added that the understanding of himself, Ronaldo and Gareth Bale is developing into one of the best trio’s in world football.
“We understand each other very well, we complement each other and always try to help each other out. Everyone has their way of playing, but we always look for the good of the team,” he added.
“Last year was a big year. I think that, this year, we needed to find a little rhthym, but bit by bit we’re getting closer to our goals.”
