Totti: Man City tweet gave me good luck

Francesco Totti has claimed that Manchester City’s pre-match tweet gave him good luck after scoring the leveller in their Champions League tie on Tuesday night.

The 38-year-old forward became the oldest ever Champions League scorer as he found the back of the net for Roma on Tuesday night in the 1-1 draw at the Etihad stadium.

And, he has revealed that City’s pre-match tweet on their official Twitter account was partly the reason he scored.

City tweeted: “We’re looking forward to hosting you @OfficialASRoma, and a legendary player such as Totti. He’s never scored in England, has he?”

Totti told Gazzetta dello Sport: “City’s tweet? It really brought me luck.

“It was a beautiful goal and a good performance. I really wanted to score as soon as possible as I had not found the back of the net this season.”
