Roma midfielder warns Man City of threat

Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic has warned their Champions League rivals Manchester City and Bayern Munich that the Italian side are growing in confidence.

After beating CSKA Moscow 5-1 on the opening match-day, Roma visited the Etihad stadium on Tuesday night and held Man City to a 1-1 draw, a game which saw Francesco Totti become the oldest player at 38 to score in the competition.

And, Totti’s team-mate – Pjanic, has warned City and top of the table Bayern Munich that his side are now confident that they can qualify for the knock-out stages.

“We knew of our quality and we wanted to play our game, even in City’s home,” the attacking midfielder told Sky Sport Italia.

“We were prepared to do it. The three of us in midfield [Pjanic, Radja Nainggolan and Seydou Keita] had to show personality to take the ball and create chances.

“The draw was well deserved and we could have got more out of the game.

“Still, the result is a positive one. We’re going well in the group.

“We are sure of our strength. Ours is a complicated group. However, City and Bayern still have to come to our home.

“We believe in ourselves and we know that we can go through.”
