Liverpool planning to end Higuain’s spell in Italy

Liverpool are set to make a January offer for Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain, according to several reports in Italian and English reports.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers remains confident that his side can achieve the same level of success as last season and push the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City for the Premier League title.

Struggling form and a lack of goals since the sale of Luis Suarez this summer to Barcelona has seen Liverpool fall short in their opening season fixtures, but Rodgers is reportedly planning to improve that in the coming January transfer window.

The Reds believe that Gonzalo Higuain would welcome a summer exit from Italian side Napoli after becoming unsettled at the club, telling boss Rafa Benitez that he was unhappy at the club.

The Serie A side are in financial trouble at the moment and have hit out at Benitez for a string of poor results, leading to a whole host of unhappy players, such as Higuain, Jose Callejon and Raul Albiol.

Midfielder Marek Hamsik is also reportedly happy to leave the club in January – should a club be interested.
