Real Madrid legend backs Ronaldo to shine for years to come

Former Real Madrid director Jorge Valdano believes Cristiano Ronaldo will continue to produce the same performances as he moves into his thirties.

The Portuguese international has started the new La Liga season in typically brilliant form and has already forced a lead in the Pichichi standings of six goals, sitting on ten.

And, Valdano believes that Ronaldo will continue to pose a threat as he approaches his 30th birthday next February.

“Normally, age starts playing a role in football as you get older. But Ronaldo is exceptional on all counts, including this,” Valdano was quoted as saying by Marca.

“Cristiano is a tremendous player. He is always looking for perfection and is incredibly ambitious, which only spurs on his team-mates. This is worth a lot, just like all his goals.

“I think Ronaldo is the only player in the world who could play in each position in attack and be dominant regardless of where he plays.

“The shortest distance between two points is the distance between Ronaldo and the goal…”
