Oxlade-Chamberlain: We respect Chelsea

Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has discussed the upcoming Premier League tie with Chelsea and said that he and his team-mates respect their cross-city rivals.

The Gunners were subject to a 6-0 hammering by Jose Mourinho’s side last season at Stamford Bridge – a result which saw Arsene Wenger’s side embarrassed and left questioning many things.

England international Oxlade-Chamberlain claims that although he and his team-mates have a ‘point to prove’ against the Blues, they do respect Jose Mourinho’s men.

Oxlade-Chamberlain told reporters: “We do understand what happened there last season. Maybe we have got a point to prove there, we know this year we have got to step up in the big games and get some results in them.

“We’re really looking forward to that game and I definitely think we can go there with confidence.

“We give Chelsea the respect they deserve – but, at the same time, I have belief in my team-mates and we believe in ourselves to be able to go to a place like Chelsea and set the tempo and hopefully take control of the game.”
