La Liga champions Atletico Madrid are weighing up a January move for Juan Mata from Manchester United, according to reports in Mundo Deportivo.
The 26-year-old only moved to Old Trafford in January but after seeing his side go through a transformation under new Manager Louis Van Gaal, the playmaker may see his future elsewhere.
Following the arrival of Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao from Real Madrid and Monaco respectively, Mata has found playing time hard to come by and was recently left out of the starting line-up for last Sundays 5-3 defeat to Leicester City.
Mata may well be interested in the move to the Vicente Calderon after seeing his career follow a similar path at Stamford Bridge before making the move to Manchester.
The former Valencia man has scored 8 goals in 20 Premier League matches since arriving from Chelsea, form that would entice Atletico Madrid to make the move as they chase a consecutive league title.
