Football Express News understands that Southampton will announce the appointment of Ronald Koeman in the coming hours after agreeing a contract.

Argentine boss Mauricio Pochettino left the Saints earlier this summer to take over at Tottenham Hotspur, leaving the club without a manager, which prompted a number of high profile players announce their decision to leave.

However, the Southern English club have taken quick action and after holding talks with Dutch boss Koeman in recent days, it is now understood that a deal has been agreed that will see him take charge.

Koeman left Feyenoord at the end of the season after deciding not to renew his contract and explore options elsewhere.

The former Barcelona defender entered management firstly with Vitesse and has since been in charge of six clubs.

As a manager he has won the Dutch title on three occasions with PSV twice and Feyenoord once, plus he won the Champions League with Barcelona in his playing days, scoring a memorable winner at Wembley in 1992.
