Arsenal will attempt January Cavani bid

Arsenal will attempt to sign Paris Saint Germain forward Edinson Cavani in the January transfer window, according to several reports.

Arsene Wenger’s £16m capture of Danny Welbeck from Manchester United on deadline day seemingly ended their interest in signing another striker in the coming transfer windows, but reports in French and English media have once again linked the Gunners with Paris Saint Germain’s Edinson Cavani.

The Uruguayan striker has somewhat been struggling to adapt in France, falling out with the French club on several occasions last season.

Added to that is Cavani’s unhappiness at playing under the shadow of Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

And, according to L’Equipe, Cavani, who scored against Ajax on Wednesday in the 1-1 draw of their opening Champions League tie; has not ruled out a January exit.

The likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool have all shown interest but Arsenal are said to be favourites to sign the former Napoli man.

Cavani has scored 27 goals in 47 games for the Parisien side since joining from Napoli in the summer of 2013.
