Remy: Mourinho will bring out the best in me

Loic-Remy-Top

The transfer saga of France international striker Loic Remy finally drew to a conclusion this afternoon when the former QPR man joined rival west Londoners Chelsea on a four-year deal worth £8.5m.

The 27-year-old, who is reported to have been hot property this summer with a number of other Premier League clubs interested including Arsenal, made the move on the activation of his £8.5m release clause and is believed to have been swayed into joining Jose Mourinho’s side by the Blues boss himself.

At his official unveiling this afternoon, the French forward told Chelsea’s official website: “Yeah, I spoke with him (Mourinho). He is very clever and he knows exactly what he wants.

“He has targets for me and I know I have a target for myself as well.

Remy believes Mourinho is the man to bring out his best form and ability as a player and a said a big part of the attraction of joining Chelsea is the opportunity he will have to play a part in the most prestigious European tournament – the Champions League.

“Everybody wants the best so the discussion was really good. I know he can get the best out of a player and I’m looking forward to working with him.”

“To be honest I wanted to play in the Champions League this season so yes, that was another of my motivations for coming here.”

“I know that Chelsea can win the Champions League this season because there is so much quality in the squad. The first thing to aim for is winning titles.”
