Ki Sung-Yueng signs new four-year Swansea deal

Swansea City midfielder Ki Sung-Yueng has signed a new four-year deal with the Welsh club.

The 25-year-old was on loan to Sunderland last season and has impressed Swans manager Gary Monk since his return. He has been rewarded with a new contract which will secure his position with Swansea until summer 2018.

The South Korea international, who scored earlier this month on the Swans’ 2-1 Premier League victory against Manchester United at Old Trafford, had one year left on his previous contract that was set to expire at the end of the 2014/2015 campaign.

Ki, who joined Swansea from Celtic for £5.5m in 2012, told the club’s official website that he is pleased to have signed to the club for another four years.

“I’m very pleased, this is what I have wanted to do, my first option was always to renew with Swansea,” said the midfielder.

“I will be giving 100 percent and I am very happy to sign a new contract. This team has great potential and I am sure that we will be amazing as time goes on, the way we try to play makes it really enjoyable.

“In my first season here, we finished ninth, but this year I think we can go further and I want to make sure we improve.

“I know the manger very well and he knows me. He knows my strengths and weaknesses and I can learn from him.”
