Costa suffers injury in Chelsea training

Chelsea striker Diego Costa has suffered a minor injury in training and will now face a race against time to be fit for the upcoming Premier League game with Everton.

The Brazilian born Spanish international has started the season in good form, having scored two goals in two games for Chelsea since arriving from Atletico Madrid this summer.

However, a setback in his fitness will now see him monitored by the club’s medical team ahead of Saturday’s tie with Everton at Goodison Park.

Initial reports had suggested that Costa could be ruled out for six weeks after pulling his hamstring during training on Wednesday, but it is understood that scans and the real extent of the injury is yet to be deemed.

Costa is likely to be replaced by Ivorian Didier Drogba, who made an heroic return to Stamford Bridge last weekend, whilst Fernando Torres is on the verge of joining AC Milan this week.
